APNU REACHES OUT TO THE GUYANESE DIASPORA
APNU is aware that Guyanese living overseas exceed 800,000. APNU also aware that the expertise required to implement our Master Plan for development is not available in Guyana and must be sourced from overseas. Unlike the PPPC administration, APNU will not allow political patronage be the guiding principle for employment in government. While comprehensive programs would be undertaken to ensure that local Guyanese are trained and retrained to meet the needs of our Master Plan for implementation, APNU will reach out to Guyanese across the globe to participate in Guyana’s future development. It is no secret that the has made significant contributions to the economic development of other nations. These Guyanese have been deliberately excluded by the PPPC government because the PPPC lacks the foresight to acknowledge that skilled Guyanese across the world over represents a critical resource to Guyana’s future development. APNU will aggressively pursue talented Guyanese across the world to come home and assist in Guyana’s development with remuneration to match global pay scales.
CURRENT ISSUES WHY THE DIASPORA STAY AWAY FROM GUYANA
HIGH AIRFARES AND HARASSMENT WHEN IN-TRANSIT AT SOME CARIBBEAN AIRPORTS
APNU is well aware of high airfares for overseas Guyanese wanting to travel home. The reason for high airfares is the exclusion of major North American and European airlines from flying into Timehri airport because of the corrupt rules of the PPPC regime. Overseas Guyanese also complain about the lack of direct flights to Guyana which is inconvenient. Many Guyanese in the Diaspora have been targeted for harassment at Caribbean airports during layovers. APNU also is aware that the high cost of airline tickets in and out of Guyana increases the cost of doing business in Guyana which results in higher prices for goods and services. An APNU government will relentlessly find solutions to these problems and invite many competing airlines so prices will be lowered and service more efficient and reliable. APNU will put an end to the mistreatment of Guyanese in-transit passengers at foreign airports.
The decay of Public Safety under the PPPC administration has been well documented. Guyanese in the Diaspora are fearful of returning home due to the explosion of criminal activity. The APNU coalition will immediately re-engineer Guyana’s public safety institutions. We will seek instant assistance from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the European Union and other countries to bring an abrupt end to Guyana’s “Crime Wave” –without having the police become the Judge, Jury and Executioner. Extra Judicial killing of suspects will not stand in an APNU administration. Soon, Guyanese in the Diaspora can visit without fear of becoming the victims of crime.
BE A PART GUYANA’S CHANGE
Change in Guyana will not happen overnight, but Guyanese in the Diaspora can assist to make this change for the better faster. APNU welcomes all Guyanese in the Diaspora to join our relentless pursuit for
change in Guyana. First we have to get your help to vote the PPPC out of power. Then we invite you to come home and join our team as we re-engineer Guyana to an emerging nation –to global standards.
Without Guyanese living overseas, the rebuilding task will be much more difficult.
